Capitola Village Halloween Parade

Date: October 29, 2017

Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Ghosts, goblins, boys and ghouls...join us for the annual Capitola Village Halloween Parade! Line up begins at 1:30pm in the Beach & Village Parking Lot above Capitola City Hall. Parade begins promptly at 2pm. Parade will head down Capitola Avenue, wind through Capitola Village to the Esplanade ending at Esplanade Park, where trick-or-treat bags, balloons, and refreshments will be waiting. New Leaf Community Market will be there with treats! Trick-or-treating at Capitola Village shops following parade.

 

 

Monte Foundation Fireworks Extravaganza

Watch from Capitola Beach, or the bluffs surrounding Capitola Village.
*Donations benefit the new Capitola Branch Library.

 

 

Marine Masquerade

Friday, Oct 27th

A magical mystery marine masquerade adventure. Kids – dress up if you wish, be a seal or a fish – and bring your parents for a night of scavenger hunts, creature crafts, flashlight tours to a whale of a skeleton, costume parade, music, and more. Public: $8 adults, $6 kids, Children 2 and under FREE, Members: FREE. The Seymour Marine Discovery Center is located at 100 McAllister Way in Santa Cruz.

UCSC FARM HOSTS FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL ON OCTOBER 1

Celebrate the abundance of the fall harvest at UC Santa Cruz’s 30-acre organic farm, one of the Monterey Bay region’s most beautiful locations. Fresh produce, music, farm tours, cooking demonstrations, and much more await visitors at the UCSC Farm & Garden’s Fall Harvest Festival, coming up on Sunday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at UC Santa Cruz’s organic farm.

The festival features live musical performances, hay rides, kids’ crafts, workshops, organic pumpkin, produce, and flower sales, and campus and community group information tables.

Visitors of all ages are invited to sample apples, enter the pie baking contest, try their hand at pressing cider, and enjoy locally sourced, tasty treats. The festival will also feature a produce sale with organically raised pumpkins along with dry-farmed tomatoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables.

Workshops on making seasonal salsas, sourdough bread, growing and making cut flower bouquets, and saving seeds are also on the schedule, along with tours of the farm and an herb talk and walk through the garden.

Free parking will be available at the Campus Facilities and Barn Theater parking lots, and a free shuttle will be available. Admission is free for UCSC students, kids 12 and under, and members of the Friends of the UCSC Farm & Garden; general admission is $5. For more information call 459-3240.

Full Moon Madness

Friday, October 6 at 6pm

Experience Henry Cowell Redwoods in a completely new way… at night! This astronomy-based evening, held in the day-use area off Highway 9, is perfect for the whole family. We will have kids’ crafts, guided night hikes, and a special astronomer guest speaker. To wrap up the evening, the Santa Cruz Astronomy Club will bring their telescopes out for stargazing. Spooky or Not Spooky?

A special walk for Halloween! We'll take a walk in the forest with an eye out for the weird and wonderful. We'll examine cobwebs, burls, holes and other mysterious natural features from a different perspective, asking the question, "Is it Spooky or Not Spooky?” Depending on how you look at things, the answer may change! Come along if you dare! Geared for young children, this is a one-hour easy walk. Meet at Big Basin Redwoods State Park Headquarters. Halloween on the Santa Cruz Wharf

Little witches, goblins, ghosts, superheroes and their parents can enjoy trick-o-treating on the beautiful Santa Cruz Wharf. Stroll the Wharf and visit your favorite businesses for sweet surprises. Heritage Harvest Festival

Celebrate! The harvest is in! See historic tractors, draft horses, living history demonstrations, live music, crafts, and participate in harvest-time activities. The Missing Arm

Experience a haunted tale of Big Basin’s last lumber mill owner and his fateful encounter with a grizzly bear! Celebrate the forest in autumn with this spooky and slightly silly half-mile theatrical guided walk through the redwoods at night. Ranger apples cooked around the campfire round out this festive family event. The trail is stroller and wheelchair accessible. Registration begins at 6:30pm at Big Basin Redwoods State Park Headquarters. Event is free; vehicle day-use fee is $10. Bring a flashlight. Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Gault Elementary School Halloween Parade

Join in on the fun at the 69th Annual Gault Elementary Halloween Parade and Carnival! The parade 9-10am. (open to the public) will begin at North Branciforte and Soquel and then proceed to Seabright Avenue. There will be games, face painting, awards for best homemade costumes, delicious food, and much more! This event is for the entire family!
